HEC-HMS & HEC-RAS Seminar Series Learn to use the essential tools for storm water modeling and linking to GIS 3-Day Course: $895.00 2-Day Course: $795.00 (days 1 and 2 only) (10% discount when registering 2 or more attendees) Dates: To Be Announced Please contact us if you are interested in attending. Learn from the best. Dodson & Associates, Inc., has been providing training for HEC hydrology and hydraulics software since 1986. These programs are used on a daily basis by Dodson’s staff of experienced engineers, hydrologists and GIS technicians. The main goal of this course is to help attendees become more productive in their use of these programs through a combination of lectures, discussions and workshops. Lectures will cover the basic concepts, program options, user interface, data requirements, output review, and case studies. Instructor-led group workshops will provide a hands-on experience for attendees. Dates: To Be Announced Location: Houston, Texas (Dodson’s Office) 5629 FM 1960 Rd. West, Ste. 314, Houston, TX 77069 Instructors: (select name to view bio) Class Agenda: Day 1 – HEC-HMS (Hydrologic Modeling System) § Overview of Program Capabilities § Basic Concepts of Hydrology & HEC-HMS § Precipitation & Loss Options § Rainfall/Runoff Transformations: Unit Hydrographs § Stream Flow Routing & Diversion § Reservoir & Detention Basin Analysis § Case Studies § Group Workshop Day 2 – HEC-RAS (River Analysis System) § Overview of Program Capabilities § Basic Concepts of Hydraulics and HEC-RAS § Bridge & Culvert Computations § Unsteady Flow Overview § Additional Capabilities of HEC-RAS § Case Studies § Group Workshop Day 3 – HEC-GeoHMS & HEC-GeoRAS (ArcGIS extensions) This class covers the concepts and techniques necessary for integration of digital elevation data into hydrologic and hydraulic models, including elevation data processing, drainage area and flow path delineation, connectivity of drainage areas, development of additional hydrologic parameters, effective delineation of streams and cross sections, creation of data files for import into HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS, and use of HEC-RAS results for floodplain mapping. Case studies for projects analyzed using HEC-GeoHMS and HEC-GeoRAS. Please Note: Familiarity with GIS software and applications is helpful for Day 3. Note: Each attendee is required to bring a laptop. Dodson will provide software and project files prior to class.
