HEC-HMS by the US Army Corps of Engineers Hydrologic Engineering Center is designed to simulate the precipitation-runoff processes of dendritic watershed systems. The main goal of this course is to provide an understanding of the basic functions of the HEC-HMS program and how to use it efficiently.  This is accomplished through a combination of slideshow lecture sessions and workshops. Lectures will cover the basic concepts, program options, user interface, data requirements, output review, and case studies. Workshops provide a hands-on experience for the user.

Hands-On Workshops:

The purpose of these workshops is to walk you through the process of setting up a detailed model in HEC-HMS. In the final workshop # 8, you will create a second project and model a watershed with both existing and proposed development, and mitigate the impacts cause by the development. The workshop will also illustrate how to perform various calculations not supported by HEC-HMS.
