About the Company

Directions to the Office

Based in Houston, Texas, Dodson specializes in storm water management, including hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and water quality studies.  Dodson has completed a large number of storm water management studies – well over 1500 projects in 15 states and in Latin America.  This high level of productivity comes from two important factors:

  • Dodson & Associates, Inc. is very focused on storm water management.  Throughout the firm’s history, Dodson has not accepted any other types of projects.

  • Dodson & Associates, Inc. has an extremely stable and capable staff of employees.  The firm’s financial success and stability has allowed the firm to select, train, and retain high-quality employees, and equip them with the best tools available.

Most of the work of the firm is performed for government agencies, engineering firms, or industrial clients needing specialized assistance in storm water analysis.  The firm has successfully managed and completed master flood plain delineation studies, drainage planning studies, channel improvement designs, storm water detention basin designs, design of flood protection levees, bridge hydraulic designs, watershed development impact analyses, and the design of surface-water run-on and run-off facilities for municipal, industrial, and hazardous waste landfills.

Dodson & Associates, Inc. has been one of the leading suppliers of hydrology and hydraulics software in the United States for more than 10 years.  The firm’s “Hydro-CD” product includes almost 60 different public-domain computer programs for hydrology, hydraulics, and water quality analysis.  Dodson employees have gained wide experience with these programs, not only in project work, but also through the presentation of many training seminars each year.  In addition, Dodson employees answer many technical support questions each week from around the world.  These technical support questions often represent the most challenging examples of program applications and projects.

Code of Ethics

Dodson & Associates, Inc. management and employees follow a deceptively simple but demanding code of ethics:

"Give to everyone who asks of you, and whoever takes away what is yours, do not demand it back. And just as you want men to treat you, treat them in the same way." (Luke 6:30,31)

This powerful requirement was set forth by Jesus Christ in His "Sermon on the Mount". It contains the familiar "Golden Rule". The Golden Rule, and the other related teachings of Jesus Christ, are the central tenets of relationships among humans, and between humans and their Creator. For Christians, the Holy Spirit guides in interpreting and applying these teachings to the day-to-day decisions of business and personal life.

In applying the Golden Rule to business decisions, Dodson & Associates, Inc. follows some specific guidelines:

  • Public Safety: We will not participate in projects which perceptibly damage the health, safety, or welfare of the general public, even if the damage is relatively short-term.
  • Competency: We will not misrepresent our own qualifications or experience, or assume project responsibilities for which we are not qualified.
  • Honesty: We will not misrepresent the charges accumulated to a project or the effort required to perform a certain activity.
  • Communication: We will attempt to fully inform the client of project status and all conditions affecting the project. We will not avoid or delay communication because the project experiences problems.
  • Professionalism: We will not bestow personal favors, including political contributions, in the hope of receiving project work or other benefits, or as a payment for benefits already received. The only incentive we offer in return for receiving project work is the quality, timeliness, responsiveness, and cost-effectiveness of our work.

There are always questions in how any code of ethics should be applied to specific situations. Employees and clients of Dodson & Associates, Inc. are encouraged to contact any of our corporate officers with questions or comments concerning this code of ethics or its interpretation.
